Happy Mother's Day!

If you were out and about yesterday, it would have been clear for everyone to see that it was a very special day. Moms all over HK were carrying bouquets of flowers and wearing smiles on their faces as they were being pampered by their loved ones.

My Mom was one of them! Mom is visiting from the UK right now so we were able to spend this special day together for the first time in 4 years!
Knowing her love for hotpot (and mine!) we gorged on a steamboat feast for hours. But this meal was only a very small token for my huge appreciation for her.

My Mom has taught me some of the most important life lessons anyone could learn and for this I am forever grateful.

Thank you Mom!

A Not So Traditional Chinese New Year Tradition...

The Kids on Air family followed the Chinese New Year tradition of a family reunion dinner in class today. All the kids seemed to be using chopsticks for the first time, and they enjoyed trying it out. And what food did they try it out on? No, not rice or noodles....but hamburgers!

From First Touch Piano to MusikPiano

I am so glad that some of my First Touch Piano students have completed the recent module and been promoted to MusikPiano for more advanced piano learning.
After studying few modules of First Touch Piano, they have built up some basic musicianship and their confident in playing piano. Let’s keep it up and I am sure you will do a great job in MusikPiano Class too.

Congratulation…… Claudia, Emma, Marcus and Milla.

A Proud Day

Months of hard work certainly paid off when 120 kids from MMB performed at the 2010 Family Recital.

I was especially proud of all my kids and spent the whole of yesterday thinking about them and feeling warm and fuzzy inside. I was so stunned to see each of my kids put 100% heart and effort into their performance. I have known all along that my kids are more than capable of putting on a good show, but stage fright can get the better of all of us (especially if it is their first time on stage - even I was nervous and almost forgot my lines when singing Somewhere Out There!). I asked each of the kids if they were scared when they left the stage and each one replied 'no' whilst wearing a smile on their face. The kids seemed to glow with their smiles, and I could see that they all truly enjoyed their experience of being centre stage. Hearing the parents' loud applause and cheers certainly was a proud moment for me, and for the kids too I think.

My kids in class carried a different sort of enthusiasm today. They were all more engaged than usual and some requested to rehearse their performance piece for the concert. I had to remind them that the recital had finished and that we would no longer be citing that particular poem. It was funny, 'cause they had been begging not to rehearse the poem for the past few weeks! My kids not only learnt about hard work, but had it put into practice and then experienced the results. They finally understood why we worked so hard over the past 2 months - work hard, deliver the goods and you get great big grins, cheers and claps!

My kids' new love for performing was so clear to see today, and I am so grateful that I was the one who was able to lead them towards the experience they had yesterday. They are absolute stars and I am convinced that they will be stars forever.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my beloved students and colleagues. Time flies. I joined My Musikbox last year and it's been quite a while already. I am so happy to be having such a good time with you all. My MusikBox shares the same values as me on children's music education. Kids should learn music in a fun and interactive way and I believe that our students experience that during the lessons here. To share my joy with you, I have some funny photos for you to see! Enjoy :)

Sister Surprise

The saying is true...'time flies when you're having fun'.

2 years at MMB have certainly flown by and during my time here I have been lucky to be able to teach a loyal bunch of kids and then their younger brothers and sisters!

Kristen (R) is currently attending my FSII and older sister Kirsten once attended my FSII also!

Kirsten gave me a welcome surprise today by popping back to say 'hi'! I think she was as pleased as I was about her visit. Look at the grin on her face!

You can't push Kyle around!

This is Kyle, from my Fri FS1 class (3:15pm). Don't be fooled by his sweet and innocent look...he's a strong kid who loves nothing more than to push the animals around!
